Interested in an Apprenticeship?
An apprenticeship is an on-the-job training program that combines classroom learning with real life applications and a mentorship program. It allows you to earn a living as you learn the skills you need to be successful in your manufacturing career. When you complete your apprenticeship, you can earn industry certifications and even full-time employment with the company.
Northwestern Pennsylvania is at the heart of plastics innovation, and Port Erie is proud to collaborate with 12 area plastics companies in partnership with the American Injection Molding Institute, Clarion University, and the Keystone Community Education council to offer the Plastics Process Technician Apprenticeship Program. In this two-year apprenticeship, you’ll get 4,000 hours of on-the-job training and 300 hours of classroom learning to jumpstart your manufacturing career. Not only is the program a benefit to you and your future, it also supports the community and the industry by strengthening the manufacturing workforce to drive innovation and the growth of U.S. manufacturing.
The Department of Labor and Industry reports that 94% of apprentices get jobs paying an average of $70,000 per year, and they earn more over the course of their careers than their colleagues who didn’t complete an apprenticeship. From the company’s perspective, these employees enter the workforce better trained and with the specific skills required for the job, improving productivity and reducing the risk of turnover. It’s no wonder companies in many industries, from plastics manufacturing to energy, healthcare, information technology, and more, are offering apprenticeship programs to better prepare people for long, fulfilling careers in the industry.
If you enjoy hands-on work, the latest equipment and technology, and the chance to collaborate with a team to solve complex problems, Port Erie Plastics has a variety of opportunities for you. We know that the future of plastics manufacturing will determine how we all live our lives, from the cars we drive to the devices we use at home to the life-saving possibilities in our hospitals and emergency rooms.
